Reg. No.: 103/1V/2006

Holy Word Inland Mission (HWIM) is a non-profit organization founded in 2006. HWIM works in social development, focusing on palliative care, mental health, and family welfare.
Holy Word Inland Mission was founded by Mr. Santhosh P Thomas, who serves as the founder and Managing Trustee. The story behind starting this organization is rooted in a personal turning point in Mr. Santhosh P. Thomas's life. He lost 2 cousins in an accident at near Peechi, Thrissur district in 1992. After this, Mr. Santhosh P. Thomas decided to serve God by helping others. He started HWIM in the year 2006. Later (February 7-11, 2012), he was admitted to Medical College, Kozhikode due to another accident with abnormal medical results. Mr. Santhosh and his wife Somi prayed and dedicated their life to serving people facing similar illnesses if God saved him. God healed him. This experience led to a deeper understanding of terminally ill patients' struggles and inspired Mr. Santhosh P. Thomas and his wife to work with helpless palliative care patients from 2013 onwards.
Our mission is to extend service to the destitute, poor, aged, children, disabled, chronically ill patients, and their needy dependents. Many people with illness or disability need help and support to achieve a good quality of life and participate in social and economic life on an equal basis with others. We initiate and implement palliative care programs, awareness programs, and social services.

ABOUT MISSION LOGO
The book symbolizes the Holy Bible. The dove symbolizes the Holy Spirit. The candle symbolizes the light of care, compassion and knowledge.
Holy Word Inland Mission takes initiatives to serve and support patients and their families facing life-limiting illnesses. Our goal is to improve their quality of life by providing care and support tailored to their individual needs—helping them experience comfort, dignity, and meaning during difficult times.
1. Palliative Care Units
Our Palliative Care Units aim to bring comfort, hope, and support to patients and their families. We provide monthly aid, food kits, and livelihood assistance to those in need. Our team of doctors, nurses, and counselors offer free medical advice, counseling, and emotional care through regular home visits.
We also organize family get-together meetings to encourage fellowship, joy, and emotional healing among patients, caregivers, and families. In addition, we train and guide families in palliative care practices—helping them give compassionate and effective care at home.
Through these efforts, we seek to share God’s love and comfort with those going through difficult times.
2. Wheelchair, Walker, and Medical Equipment Distribution – Ensure access to essential medical equipment for beneficiaries when required.
3. Tele-Service – Offer regular telephonic counseling and prayer support to help patients and families cope with depression, anxiety, fear, or confusion.
4. Hope & Kuttikootam Projects
These outreach and children’s development initiatives are supported by Pattarumadathil. The projects focus on bringing hope, encouragement, and holistic growth to children and families in need by providing monthly medical aid, educational aid, and emotional support to empower and uplift their lives.
5. Supportive Project – Partner Needed
We are prayerfully seeking a mission partner to stand with us in continuing this compassionate project, which provides monthly aid, emergency medical assistance, and livelihood support to needy palliative care patients and their dependents.
6. Mobile Unit – Partner Needed
We are also looking for a partner to help us establish and operate a Mobile Unit for emergency hospital needs, patient house visits, and on-site care for those unable to travel. This will help us reach patients more effectively and provide timely support.
7. Future Project – Palliative Care Retreat Centre
We are planning to set up a Palliative Care Retreat Centre — a serene and compassionate space dedicated to providing holistic palliative care, respite for caregivers, counseling, therapies, and spiritual support. The centre will also serve as a training and awareness hub for volunteers and families, ensuring sustainable, faith-based palliative care for those in need.
Holy Word Inland Mission (HWIM) empowers communities to provide compassionate palliative care. Our fellowships train healthcare professionals, social workers, and volunteers to support patients and families—addressing physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs. The program also includes prayer support for those in need, bringing dignity, comfort, and hope to people facing life-limiting illnesses.
Our Mission Board Members / supporters have a vital function in involving themselves in the service programs and supporting the monthly activities of Holy Word Inland Mission. This helps to wipe away the tears of helpless people in palliative care. Financial constraints have always been a barrier to shaping our dream. However, due to the support of mission board members/ partners and well-wishers, we are marching towards our vision and mission.
The affairs of Holy Word Inland Mission are broadly managed by its trust board. All important decisions, evaluations, or any structural changes are taken by the Board of Trustees. Our organization continues its services, which have become a catalyst for positive change in society.
The works and accounts of the Holy Word Inland Mission are monitored periodically by the Board of the Trustees. They would meet periodically and undertake evaluations of the works based on the following visible indicators.
An annual general meeting held once a year and the purpose of the meeting is to give a report on the mission activities for the previous year.
1) HWIM Established Day & International Nurses Day – 12th May
2) World Environment Day - 5th June
3) National Doctors' Day (India) - 1st July
4) World Hospice and Palliative Care Day Celebration - Second Saturday of October month.
5) International Volunteer Day - 5th December
We thank God for every person who has stood with us in prayer and support through the years. Yet, the need is still great. We invite you, your church, or your organization to partner with Holy Word Inland Mission — to pray, support, and stand with us to reach more with compassion and care. Together, we can bring comfort, dignity, and hope to those who need it most.
