Reg. No.: 103/1V/2006

Holy Word Inland Mission (HWIM) is a non-profit organization founded in 2006. HWIM works in social development, focusing on palliative care, mental health, and family welfare.
Holy Word Inland Mission was founded by Mr. Santhosh P Thomas, who serves as the founder and Managing Trustee. The story behind starting this organization is rooted in a personal turning point in Mr. Santhosh P. Thomas's life. He lost 2 cousins in an accident at near Peechi, Thrissur district in 1992. After this, Mr. Santhosh P. Thomas decided to serve God by helping others. He started HWIM in the year 2006. Later (February 7-11, 2012), he was admitted to Medical College, Kozhikode due to another accident with abnormal medical results. Mr. Santhosh and his wife Somi prayed and dedicated their life to serving people facing similar illnesses if God saved him. God healed him. This experience led to a deeper understanding of terminally ill patients' struggles and inspired Mr. Santhosh P. Thomas and his wife to work with helpless palliative care patients from 2013 onwards.
Our mission is to extend service to the destitute, poor, aged, children, disabled, chronically ill patients, and their needy dependents. Many people with illness or disability need help and support to achieve a good quality of life and participate in social and economic life on an equal basis with others. We initiate and implement palliative care programs, awareness programs, and social services.

ABOUT MISSION LOGO
The book symbolizes the Holy Bible. The dove symbolizes the Holy Spirit. The candle symbolizes the light of care, compassion and knowledge.
Holy Word Inland Mission takes initiatives to serve and support patients and their families facing life-limiting illnesses. Our goal is to improve their quality of life by providing care and support tailored to their individual needs—helping them experience comfort, dignity, and meaning during difficult times.
1. Palliative Units (A Palliative Care Support Program)
Our Palliative Units operate as a district-based palliative care support network for patients and families facing long-term illness, disability, or age-related challenges. These units are not physical centers, but community outreach groups that identify beneficiaries and provide ongoing care and support. We conduct family get-together meetings in each district to encourage fellowship, joy, emotional healing, and mutual support among patients, caregivers, and families. Support for unit members is provided through the generosity of mission board members, partners, and various projects, including: Hope & Kuttikootam initiatives, Livelihood support initiatives, Compassion supports, Food Kits, Emotional support for empowerment and well-being, Home visits for assessment and care, Wheelchair, walker, and medical equipment distribution (as needed). Through these efforts, we aim to share God’s love, comfort, and hope with those navigating difficult seasons of life.

2. Tele-Service – Offer regular telephonic counseling and prayer support to help patients and families cope with depression, anxiety, fear, or confusion.
3. Supportive Project
Our Supportive Project is a compassionate initiative that provides monthly support to palliative care patients and their families. We rely on continued support and partnership to sustain this vital work and reach more families in need.
4. Mobile Unit – Partner Needed
We are seeking a partner to help establish and operate a Mobile Unit to serve palliative care patients in need. This unit will provide: Emergency hospital support, Patients Home visits, On-site care and assistance. With a Mobile Unit, we can reach patients more effectively, provide timely support, and ensure that those facing severe illness or disability receive compassionate care where they are. Your partnership will help bring practical help and God’s comfort directly to those who need it most.
5. Future Project – Palliative Care Retreat Centre
We are planning to establish a Palliative Care Retreat Centre — a serene and compassionate space dedicated to holistic palliative care. The centre will offer: Respite and support for caregivers, Counseling and therapeutic services, Spiritual care and encouragement, Training and awareness programs for volunteers and families. This retreat centre will serve as a faith-based hub for sustainable palliative care, ensuring patients and their families receive compassionate, comprehensive support in a peaceful environment.
Holy Word Inland Mission (HWIM) empowers communities to provide compassionate palliative care. Our fellowships train healthcare professionals, social workers, and volunteers to support patients and families—addressing physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs. The program also includes prayer support for those in need, bringing dignity, comfort, and hope to people facing life-limiting illnesses.
Our Mission Board Members / Partners have a vital function in involving themselves in the service programs and supporting the monthly activities of Holy Word Inland Mission. This helps to wipe away the tears of helpless people in palliative care. Financial constraints have always been a barrier to shaping our dream. However, due to the support of mission board members/ partners and well-wishers, we are marching towards our vision and mission.
The affairs of Holy Word Inland Mission are broadly managed by its trust board. All important decisions, evaluations, or any structural changes are taken by the Board of Trustees. Our organization continues its services, which have become a catalyst for positive change in society.
The works and accounts of the Holy Word Inland Mission are monitored periodically by the Board of the Trustees. They would meet periodically and undertake evaluations of the works based on the following visible indicators.
An annual general meeting held once a year and the purpose of the meeting is to give a report on the mission activities for the previous year.
