Holy Word Inland Mission (HWIM) is a non-profit organization founded in 2006. HWIM works in social development, focusing on palliative care, mental health, and family welfare.
Holy Word Inland Mission was founded by Mr. Santhosh P Thomas, who serves as the founder and Managing Trustee. The story behind starting this organization is rooted in a personal turning point in Mr. Santhosh P. Thomas's life. He lost 2 cousins in an accident at near Peechi, Thrissur district in 1992. After this, Mr. Santhosh P. Thomas decided to serve God by helping others. He started HWIM in the year 2006. Later (February 7-11, 2012), he was admitted to Medical College, Kozhikode due to another accident with abnormal medical results. Mr. Santhosh and his wife Somi prayed and dedicated their life to serving people facing similar illnesses if God saved him. God healed him. This experience led to a deeper understanding of terminally ill patients' struggles and inspired Mr. Santhosh P. Thomas and his wife to work with helpless palliative care patients from 2013 onwards.
Our mission is to extend service to the destitute, poor, aged, children, disabled, chronically ill patients, and their needy dependents. Many people with illness or disability need help and support to achieve a good quality of life and participate in social and economic life on an equal basis with others. Holy Word Inland Mission organizes Palliative Mission Fellowships at different places to train healthcare professionals, social workers, and volunteers in palliative care. This program equips participants to bring compassionate care to underserved and resource-limited communities. The fellowship focuses on holistic support—addressing physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs—while also building practical skills to establish and sustain community-based palliative services. By empowering local caregivers and fostering global collaboration, HWIM works to ensure dignity, comfort, and hope for patients and families facing life-limiting illness.
