Holy Word Inland Mission, established in 2006 and based in Chengannur, Kerala, is dedicated to serving the sick, bedridden, and vulnerable through compassionate palliative care—caring for patients and strengthening families. 

Holy Word Inland Mission was founded by Mr. Santhosh P. Thomas, whose life was transformed through pain, loss, and God’s mercy. After surviving serious accidents and personal loss, he and his wife dedicated their lives to serving the suffering. Thereafter, in 2013, Holy Word Inland Mission began its services for the sick, bedridden, and needy through palliative care support and prayer ministry, and continues to do so to this day.

Through the Palliative Family Units of Holy Word Inland Mission, we provide compassionate care and prayer support. Our ministry combines practical support with emotional and spiritual care through the dedicated service and support of our mission board members and supporters.

The Pattarumadathil Hope Project is supporting beneficiaries through the Hope Project initiative. CHN is directly supporting 10 beneficiaries, and CK is assisting the ministry by providing 8 food kits to needy families under our Palliative Family Units. 

Palliative Care Support Program

Providing regular monthly care and support to beneficiary patients by addressing their physical, emotional, social, medical, and spiritual needs. Through practical assistance, home visits, counseling and compassionate encouragement, we bring comfort, dignity, and hope during difficult times. 

Family Assistance
We support caregivers with counseling, guidance, family meetings, educational support, palliative care training and small livelihood initiatives—helping families stay strong while caring for their loved ones. 

Mission Fellowship
A network of HWIM members and well-wishers united in prayer, encouragement, bereavement support and partnership to support families in need.

Since 2013, we have been serving in Kerala, building a strong foundation in palliative care through our Palliative Family Units & Support Ministry. Through this ministry, we are reaching helpless patients and families facing pain, hardship, and isolation across Kerala.

By the grace of God, we are now expanding this mission beyond Kerala to other states across India. As part of this growth, we are taking initiatives to establish “Palliative Mission Stations” in every state to support sick people, encourage caregivers, and strengthen families facing difficult circumstances. These mission stations will serve by providing essential care resources, rehabilitation support, counselling, prayer, and hope for families in need. A State Coordinator along with the mission team will lead and coordinate the services in each state. To strengthen this expansion, we are forming a “Palliative Mission Board” — a fellowship of partners and well-wishers who stand together in cooperation, prayer, and support for this mission of compassion and care. 

Through this expansion, we seek to bridge the gap between hospital treatment and home-based suffering, restoring dignity, comfort, and compassionate support to those who need it most. 

This ministry stands today because of the faithful prayers and support of our mission board members and monthly supporters. Their commitment enables us to serve patients and families in need. 

The affairs of Holy Word Inland Mission are broadly managed by its trust board. All important decisions, evaluations, or any structural changes are taken by the Board of Trustees. Our organization continues its services, which have become a catalyst for positive change in society. 

The works and accounts of the Holy Word Inland Mission are monitored periodically by the Board of the Trustees. They would meet periodically and undertake evaluations of the works based on the following visible indicators.

1. Activities
2. Response of the targeted people
3. Positive change in social attitudes
4. Expected results      

The Annual Mission Review & Evaluation Meeting is a yearly gathering of our trustees, leadership team, staff, volunteers, and mission partners to prayerfully review ministry activities, evaluate impact, ensure transparency, and seek God’s guidance for the year ahead. It strengthens accountability, unity, and strategic planning as we move forward in fulfilling our mission of serving with compassion and integrity. 

As we reach out to the sick, bedridden, and needy, the need for committed mission partners and monthly supporters is greater than ever.
